ABOUT THE PLAY

In this allegorical drama by Bertol Brecht, three gods land on Earth in search for one good human to prove that the World they have created is not a pure failure. The only good human, prostitute named Šen Te, was found in the miserable Chinese town Seczwan and is struggling more than ever, on the one hand torn between instinct to please everyone and on the other hand to stand for herself. To save herself, she uses drastic methods…

Followed by live music, fourteen young actors, through Brechtian uncanny acting method, song and movement inspired by Chinese opera and shangai jazz, interpret the story about the only good human and its fate. The question arises: do we need different gods, different humans or different world? What exactly can we do about it?
