The monodrama My Settling of Accounts With Them (Moj obračun s njima), a dramatised take on a collection of virulent polemic essays by Miroslav Krleža, was set on stage for the first time in 1974, directed by Dino Radojević with Rade Šerbedžija performing. From its premiere night to 1991, it was performed a whopping 2000 times! After a long hiatus, the play has been reset on stage in 2007 at the opening of the Ulysses Theatre’s 7th season, on the Prosper’s Garden stage (Prosperov vrt) on the isle of Veliki Brijun.

This modernised, stage variant of Krleža’s text gives air to many social phenomena, political issues and problems about which the renowned author wrote beginning in 1914 and continuing well into the 1960s, alongside more all-encompassing questions regarding existential matters, politics, morality and art.

As part of this jubilee season, the Ulysses Theatre’s 20th anniversary will be celebrated with a renovated take on My Settling of Accounts With Them, with fresh air breathed into it as Rade Šerbedžija performs this monodrama starting with the premiere night, on the 15th of August, in the Fortress Minor on the isle of Mali Brijun.
