The monodrama “Two Planks” is composed of poetry and prose by the poet, prose writer and scholar Mijo Mirković, writing under the pen name Mate Balota. Because he wrote his poetry in the Chakavian dialect, his true worth remains unacknowledged and largely unknown.
Step into a world where the sea meets the land and the past meets pain. The monodrama “Two Planks” returns to the stage after 20 years of silence, bringing you a story that will touch you to your core.
This production is an emotional journey through the verses of Mate Balota, a forgotten genius who captured the soul of the Istrian person at the moment their world fell apart. His verses bring to life the story of people left without a home, without identity – but not without dignity. Some stories deserve to be heard anew by every generation.
