“Mistero Buffo” is a comedic delight and a virtuosic tribute to the acting profession, in which the actor transforms into over 30 characters. This homage views the actor’s profession as a profound social interrogation and a challenge to social authorities.
The monologues of traveling actors from the Middle Ages, performed by Dario Fo, were deemed by the Vatican as the most sacrilegious event in the history of Italian television, and access to mainstream theatre was denied.
In this production, Lee Delong, a director and actress from Paris, and Dražen Šivak, a three-time winner of the Croatian Theatre Award, joined forces. In Zagreb, this play was staged for the first time and was immediately hailed as one of the theatrical highlights of the season.
