Preparations for staging two new theatrical pieces this summer on Brijuniare well under way. Ulysses Theatre’s 12th season is marked by homecoming: Odyssey by Goran Stefanovski and The Deceased by Branislav Nušić both deal with the main character returning home, to their families, their former lives, their uncertain futures.

Odyssey rehearsals started on June 15th in Zagreb, under the direction of Aleksandar Popovski, and will continue on Brijuni until the opening on July 20th. The epic piece aims to theatrically explore the phenomena of travelling and homecoming, giving an artistic interpretation of those processes.

Parallel work is happening on rehearsals for what is often regarded as best theatre piece written by Nušić. The play explores the basic elements of existence and the mechanisms of human society, in a comic light. Directed by Lenka Udovički, this sharp satire explores the ancient wish to come back home: a man that has been accidentally pronounced dead decides to finally return to his hometown after several years.
